Also keinen Stress.

emilymbender Yo @SemanticScholar --- do you have any mechanism for submitting corrections? This paper has 15 spurious authors, including me, and I'd rather not have it showing up on my page:

emilymbender @SemanticScholar To the authors of that paper: Maybe it woulda been nice to have asked?

To @SemanticScholar : this suggests that your methods are picking up names from the middle of a text and calling them authors.

To everyone in : LOOK AT YOUR DATA

emilymbender @SemanticScholar But none of those things. It turns out that my name was among the 10 "randomly extracted from the list of Programme Committee members" for ACL 2008 for dataset construction in a "web people search" task. I'd had no idea.

emilymbender @SemanticScholar And in slightly creepy news, I looked at this paper to see why it would be associated with my profile at all, guessing that maybe it was in some volume that I was also published in, or maybe edited, or...

literalbanana let’s steelman the 10-hour school day:
-more older kids will drop out
-families that were struggling to justify 7 hours of daily incarceration might be pushed over the edge
-if you see a child during daylight hours you can scream “EEK! A CHILD!!!”

mmbollmann I wonder why Semantic Scholar is being used as the primary source for paper assignment — I thought ORCID was already supposed to be the canonical way to identify a researcher. Now there's YET another page I have to maintain. 🙄 twitter.com/aclmeeting/sta…

emilymbender @SemanticScholar While I'm there -- this is a paper of mine, but you've got the title and date wrong. It's from 2004, not 2019. And somehow you've pulled a section heading as a title? Do better, or give me a way to clean this up.

random_walker As a reminder, we've built a global infrastructure of tech addiction, surveillance, and manipulation that undermines our democratic values because companies want to make a few cents more on the ads they show us. So much has been sacrificed in pursuit of so little actual value.

Danke @PaulZiemiak

hsivonen What’s the deal with Arabic Wikipedia meta pages whose mnemonic title (one letter, colon, other letter) is prefixed with zero-width joiner followed by zero-width non-joiner? Is this some MediaWiki-specific oddity or a more commonly applicable pattern?

timnitGebru This never ends. This year, so far, 15 out of 44 people to attend @black_in_ai workshop at @NeurIPSConf (which is still in Canada) have been denied visas. That's 33%. We had all this press last year, they were supposed to help us this year.
