Also: Peirce’ Semiotik, Meillassoux’ neuer Porsche usw.

_olliepalmer I made a bot this weekend called @songrememberer. It's continually remembering songs but can't quite name them - really just an extension of the sound system in my own head. twitter.com/songrememberer…

polm23 Working on a multilingual NLP project but didn't integrate Japanese because you didn't know how to tokenize it? I've got a paper for you! This is a brief introduction to fugashi, the Japanese tokenizer used in @huggingface Transformers and elsewhere. arxiv.org/abs/2010.06858 pic.twitter.com/UCtfshVqbv

followers, do you have any tools you like to automate (random) hyperparameter search? Or do you roll your own code every time?

ojahnn The German Dendrology Association keeps track of what the best trees are. There's a listing online, and you can sort them from most to least best, and sometimes even the second or third best trees are listed. This is highly relevant for tonight's TLT quiz that I'll be hosting!

nsaphra @evanmiltenburg @emilymbender But those forces haven't been as effective at preventing nuclear weapon proliferation, because the incentives driving that are so hard to control! What if AI panic means that these techniques are *only* available to military industry in the end?

nsaphra @evanmiltenburg @emilymbender As researchers, we don't get to decide how breakthroughs are used. Think nuclear sciences: turned into a weapon of war, but adoption in the energy sector could have saved the planet from most warming effects so far.

Benign use has been suppressed by panic and private interests.

sjmielke My intuition is: choose the "LM track" if my paper is about Hyper-GLUE-number-go-up-because-bigger-data-more-layers and the "SP track" if I want to convene with the freaks who don't care about SotA but want neat math tricks and cool DP algos in their generative models (it me) 🙃

KateRaworth Let's go, Ireland! The Irish President, Michael D. Higgins, is - as far as I know - the first Head of State to publicly declare that humanity's overriding goal should be to get into the Doughnut's safe and just space. Who's next?...
